Hearing dates for Scotland and Northern Ireland case studies confirmed

Apply for public gallery attendance for hearings

The Inquiry has today published its witness timetable for Northern Irish and Scottish criminal prosecution case studies in January.

In the final two weeks of Phase 4, Sir Wyn Williams will hear evidence from former investigators, lawyers and security team members involved in prosecuting sub-postmasters in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The sessions will consider the cases of Peter Holmes and William Quarm from Scotland and Alan McLaughlin and Maureen McKelvey from Northern Ireland.

This will build on Human Impact Hearings the Inquiry held in Glasgow and Belfast last year in which Sir Wyn heard evidence from many local sub-postmasters. Their evidence is available online here.

Sir Wyn secured agreement from the UK Government last year to investigate Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish devolved matters. This allows the Inquiry to investigate any divergences in the policies and practices adopted by Royal Mail Group and Post Office Limited within the four countries of the UK when taking action against sub-postmasters, managers and assistants.
