Privacy notice for engagement sessions

Purpose of this processing

These engagement sessions create a mechanism for all of those affected by the Horizon scandal to share their experience of how the scandal has impacted them in a way that is less formal than giving evidence at a hearing.

Through this project, we want to give more people who have may have been affected the opportunity to share their stories.

The information collated from the stories shared, along with those that were heard during the Human Impact hearings, will be a repository for the Inquiry to draw on to illustrate the human impact of the scandal.

These engagement sessions will also be used to help inform the Inquiry’s Legacy Project.

How your information will be used

The Inquiry will host group engagement sessions in which we will invite multiple affected individuals to attend in-person/remote meetings.

During these meetings, we will ask participants to share their stories on how the Horizon scandal has impacted them and their loved ones. We will also ask individuals to share their ideas on the creation of a Legacy Project.

Once these sessions have concluded, the Inquiry will review responses and identify common themes in the participants’ responses. Selected ideas will be anonymised and may be shared with the general public through communications and publications.

This will be shared via our website and social media channels, such as LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram or Facebook.

Please note, that not all information shared will be published. Some of these communications and publications may occur after the final report of the Inquiry has been published.

How long we keep this information

The information you share will be held securely by the Inquiry, and other than what is published in communications or publications, it will be destroyed securely at the end of the Inquiry.
